Yes you can use your mac running macOS running versions High Sierra to take a screenshot on your Apple TV.
Step 1: When you are ready launch the Quick Time Player on your Mac.
Step 2: Once Open Select the File Menu Of the Player and Choose New Movie Recording option.
Step 3: This will open a Movie Recording Window with a Red Record button. Select the arrow to the right of the red button and choose Apple TV under Camera Selection ( This will only show when your Mac is connected to the same network as your Apple TV )
Step 4: Now type the code that is shown in your Apple TV on your mac.
Step 5: Then using the Apple TV remote select the Allow Option on the Apple TV.
Step 6: Now you can take a screenshot on your Apple TV by using the Shift + Command + 4 button.
Step 7: A cross hair will appear , now press space bar and hold it and then drag the cursor to select the area on the Apple tv that you wanted to take a screenshot of.

Step 5: Windows user should connect using Apple TV’s IP address as host and root.
Step 6: Mac users should copy and paste the “ssh root@[Apple TV IP Address]” commands without any brackets.

Step 1: Open Terminal and type ssh root@[Apple TV IP Address] .You must agree to any security prompt by clicking on Yes.
Step 2: When prompted to password type “alpine”.
Step 3: Navigate to the screen which you wanted to take a screenshot off.
Step 4: Type the command screen capture and press enter.
Step 5: Wait for the screen capture engine to process.
Step 6: Connect your Apple TV device through FTP, using the same login details you used for SSH session.
Step 7: The captured screen will be saved in the file screenshot.png in “/private/var/root” folder.You will have to rename the file every time after a screenshot is taken or else it will overwrite the same file each time whenever you use the command.
