Fix / Recover Data from Unallocated hard drive without losing data in Windows 10

If it is only the location data, we can use software to scan our hard disk and find the partitions and then mount it to get access to the data.

In the screenshot below you can see the Disk 3 is Unallocated. Don’t format the unallocated disk as the data is still present only the Drive partition mapping got corrupted. So we will use a free software to scan the drive and find the partition data.

Step 1: Download the Find partition and mount software from here and install and run the program. You will see the below user interface.

Step 2: Now click on the drive name which is showing unallocated and choose the scan and use the intelligent scan option first.

Step 3: It will run for a while and if it doesn’t find the partition choose the drive again and choose the Other scan option which will take much longer than an intelligent scan. Now wait till the software scans all the partition data and if it finds the partition, it will show like in the image below with partition 1, partition 2 etc.

Step 4: Now You can see that the Partition 1 and Partition 2 are just small partition. They will not contain the data. So select the partition with the largest volume.

Step 5: Now click on the partition volume and select Mount As.. option at the top bar of the software and give your drive a letter like D or E .

Step 6: Now your drive will be mounted on the letter selected and it will show up on windows 10 file manager.

Step 7: You can now access the data from your unallocated disk.
