  1. Hi,
Unfortunately I can’t find McAfee Real Protect either in Apps & Features or in the list of any uninstaller app. Could I simply delete C:\Program Files\McAfee\Real Protect or is it dangerous?

  2. McAfee Real Protect was installed along with the Stinger offline scanner – WITHOUT any notice or permission. It takes over your computer. It starts with every boot. It puts traces in 100 places in the Registry. It sucks up CPU resources and memory. It’s not a regularly installed program, so you can’t uninstall it. It’s not a service you can stop. It’s not in msconfig startup. It’s not in the usual Registry locations that run applications. For all practical purposes this behaves like a virus. Still haven’t been able to find what starts it running at boot time.
